West View Nature Area - Local Places for Nature Grant

Grant award is a catalyst for new nature area.

Penyffordd Community Council have been successful in being awarded a Local Places for Nature grant from the Keep Wales Tidy Group This grant has led to the council formally leasing a piece of overgrown land to create and protect as a wildlife area.

The grant package consisted of wildflower seeds, bird boxes, compost, planters and various bulbs, plug plants and shrubs Penyffordd Community Council Chairman Richard Bestwick said “Without this grant, we would never have created the wildlife area We have now protected the area, and created a recognised nature habitat The grant from Keep Wales Tidy has been the catalyst for this project, and we will now be looking to further the nature area project, and increase the amount of wildflowers and opportunity for diversity of wildlife.

We have had enquiries from local school children looking to get involved, and make it a lasting community project as well as a nature project”.
