Community Council Meeting Highlights October 2025

  • Welcome to Cllr Gareth Allen who joined the council and signed his Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

  • Community Drop In Events:

o   Saturday 25th October – WMI.

o   Saturday 22nd November – Jemoleys.

o   Saturday 6th December (festive drop in with refreshments) – WMI.

  • The council will be providing an additional 8x Christmas Lights.

  • The Summer Playscheme held at The Millstone play area was again a great success and enjoyed by many.  The council will be supporting the scheme again in 2026.

  • Highway Safety – we are looking to submit proposals to FCC to improve road safety the top of Penymynydd Road.

  • Our Community Engagement Working Group will be looking at creating an Emergency Planning Framework.

  • The council are looking to appoint up to two Youth Representatives, please see our website or contact the clerk for more information.

  • The Annual Grant Application forms are live and closes 12 noon Monday 3rd November.

  • Woodswork CIC - West View Nature Area has been awarded a certificate (Level 4 – Thriving) from ‘In Bloom with the Royal Horticultural Society’ in recognition of their work at the Nature Area.

  • Millstone play area parking – please can we ask residents not to park on the grass verge outside of the play area as this is a safety risk to users of the park and pedestrians.  Please use the Youth Club car park.

  • Remembrance Day - Penyffordd WMI have advised that the parade will commence at 2.30pm followed by the service at 3pm service, Sunday 9th November 2025.
