New Planning Policy Wales Edition 10 Published

We have received this update from the Welsh Government about planning policy.

Following the consultation we undertook earlier in the year, we have sought to make Planning Policy Wales simpler and more straight-forward to use in its design and content, whilst still retaining the focus on placemaking. In addition, the policy content has been updated and clarified in a number of areas to take into account comments made.

An online version of PPW can be found here:

Please note, the Technical Advice Notes remain in places, including TAN1, and although the wording which gave significant weight to housing need has been suspended, it still remains possible for developers to submit planning applications outside of settlement boundaries whilst there is no Local Development Plan (LDP) in place.

The next stage of the LDP is the draft plan which is expected to be shared for consultation in January 2019. This stage will indicate which sites in and around each settlement have been selected for development.

The Penyffordd Place Plan will be updated in the Spring, following the LDP publication, and will be compliant with both the LDP and PPW Edition 10.
